Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans), 4cy+, 19.11.2004, Århus Østhavn

This Caspian Gull has relative thin pale legs and a small relative dark eye. The bill is without pronounced gonys angle. There is some argentatus-jizz in these photos, but also some cachinnans-like jizz with push up breast and slim elongated rear. Additionally the upperparts are slightly darker and more saturated than nearby argentatus.

Seen on location but without documentation the black primary marks create a classic cachinnans boomerang because of the extensive grey tongues, broad black band reaches p5 and p10 has an all white outer tip. The white apical spots are all relative small.

It is possibly it is a 4th calendar year gull because it has retained some of the distinctive dark spotted neck boa and some smudge around eye, the bill colour is rather pale and the black spot on upper mandible is extensive.
